How to route external inbound emails on Exchange 2003 to a certain email address or AD user/group
Hi there We have Exchange 2003 SP2.Please can anyone tell me how to route external inbound emails on Exchange 2003 to a certain email address or AD user/group? For example: If an external inbound email is received from a certain domain or email address, for example, john@externaltestdomain.com, can we route/redirect/copythis emailto a specific user or email addresson our Active Directory, eg info@mycompany.com, regardless of who "john" wanted to send the email to? I have done many searches on this topic and it all seems possible in 2007 using "transport rules" but not sure if this is possible in 2003. Thank you very much for any help on this matter.

Hi, It is not possible natively in Exchange 2003 and you have two options. You need to write/develop your custom SMTP event sink which helps you to give redirect mails based on your filter in email address but you need a mind ofprogrammer. Thank you for your reply. Please can you tell me if what I am after is available in Exchange 2007 using their transport rule functionality?

Yes, that can be accomplished in Exchange 2007 with transport rules by setting below condition and action while creating transport rules. Condition: When the from address contains text pattern Action: Redirect the message to addresses Reference: Overview of Transport Rules http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998860(EXCHG.80).aspx
