Hub Transport Role Install fails with Certificate permission error
Hello, I am trying to Install Exchange 2007 SP2 Server 2008 Standard SP1 x64. I also have Exchange 2003 installed on a Server 2003 Standard SP2 box. I have tried both Exchange 2007 SP1 and SP2 with the same Error below durring the Hub Transport Role Installation: Hub Transport Role Failed Error: Could not grant Network Service access to the certificate with thumbprint 0E436B656473C56FE38CC3116B02A6A5BF7C810F because a cryptographic exception was thrown. Access is denied.

Fire up MMC, add the Local Computer Certificate store into the console, located the certificate for the computers DNS name when you first went to install Exchange 2010 Beta/RC, (It will be in the personal store if you are getting this error), move it into the Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Now you can install, enjoy :). Hi Jonas, I came accross that as well. I copied the Cert issued to the Hostname of the Server that was created by the Exchange Install. I copied it from the Personal\Certificates location to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities\Certificates Location. I then attempted to restart the Hub Transport Role Installation by running setup.com /mode:install /role:HT but I get the same error.

Hi John672, Any update for your issue? Agree with Jonas, it seems the issue related with CERT. Plaease confirm it again, have you reboot the server to make a test? Or do you have test the GUI install procesure, not with the command line. You also could check ther CERT using the Enable-ExchangeCertificate to check the CERTS. Or you could create new CERT use the CA, if you have CA server. Regards! gavin
