IIS on an E2K7 Hub Transport Role server?
I know that E2K7 Hub role doesn't require IIS web server to be installed like CAS and Mailbox do, but are there any concerns for putting it on any way? We use Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange and that does require IIS web server to be installed, even on the HUB role server.EDIT: SMSMSE also wants DirectX 9 or higher installed ... for what possible reason I couldn't imagine. Anyone have experience with SMSMSE 6.x on Exchange 2007? Is this going to cause us issues?

You wont have any issue. It is fully supported to have CAS on the same box as HT anyway so there ya go. IIS on an HT box. Also I dont imagine directx would be at all related to the behavior of Exchange. Furthermore if Symantec requires it and their product is supported for installation on Exchange, I would be sure they have already tested it and found it to be compatible.I would have no hesitation with your scenario. HUB Transport donot going to make use of IIS. So there is no harm in installing the IIS components. and now days most of AV vendors need to make use of IIS in order to admin the AV via webconsole. Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|
