IMAP Folder

I created a folder in Outlook 2013 for a specific clients emails.  I dragged some of the email for that client into the folder and then a message appeared saying that IMAP had a problem with the folder name because of a space after the folder name (it had technical terminology that I can't recall because it appeared for about 10 seconds) then the folder and all of the emails in it disappeared!  I called our ISP and they looked for the folder and emails and no luck, they even restored all the email from the previous week and nothing has come back.  Can anyone explain WHY this happened and if there is a way to recover the missing email?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

My understanding to this issue, is the emails disappeared after you dragged some emails from one folder to another in the IMAP account.

If my understanding is correct, please try "Ctrl + 6" and check if the emails are in one of these folders.

Can you find your emails on webmail site? If not, please contact your ISP to ask if they can find the reason by Mailbox Audit Logging.

Try repairing your Outlook data file in case it has been corrupted:http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/outlook-help/repair-outlook-data-files-pst-and-ost-HA010075831.aspx

It also would be preferred if you can provide the complete error message or the screenshot of it.

Regards.
