IMAP UID error in Outlook 2007
"Your server has reported a UID which does not comply with the IMAP standard. This typically indicates a server bug. Your program may not function properly after this. "
This issue seems to have come up again - noted in forums going back to 2008. We have followed the knowledge base article
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/294779 and have recreated the IMAP account. We have also tried the fix by moving all sent mail to another folder and then back again (as seen in other forums).
This error seems to have occured after a recent Windows Update. May or may not be related. The error is not on one of our machines and we think this is because we haven't installed Windows updates.
We do not have Exchange, but use SmarterMail 5 Enterprise Edition 2. We have looked for the imapindex.dat file on the server to delete (as one forum recommended) but have been unable tofind it (an Exchange file perhaps?). There have also been suggestions
to delete the mailbox.cfg file but we are reluctant to do this.
Does Microsoft have a solution for this? And is it related to a recent Windows Update?
Thanks

If you don't use Exchange as an IMAP server, and you're using Outlook
as an e-mail client, you'd be better off asking this question in
either an Outlook forum or at the place you get support for the IMAP
server.
