Have you met the crash issue when you setup Exchange/POP3/EAS profile?
To avoid any other programs conflict, you may try to setup IMAP account in Windows Clean boot (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796) without any security programs running. Launch Outlook with safe mode. ("Outlook.exe /safe") to avoid macros and add-ins effect.
If the crash issue still persists, please help to collect the event log for further troubleshooting.

I am having this same issue with Outlook 2013.
It only happens on one of my machines, also happens if I start Outlook in Safe Mode.
Any thoughts?
