IMAP and SMTP cell phone access
I am having problems sending email through cellphones on our Exchange server 2003. It receives email fine using IMAP but it timeouts waiting to contact SMTP server. Our system uses a 3rd party spam filter service so we only allow connections to the SMTP virtual server for our spam filter provider. I am asuming that this is why we can't send through our server from a cell phone. If this is the case then I would have to allow all Verizon addresses access to SMTP server and I am not sure if that is the issue or not. My Boss is frustrated the she can recieve but not send email can anyone help.

Sorry went on long vacation. No I have not tried ActiveSync. Will activeSync solve the problem? I ran across a feature called DirectPush, will this work for her to send emails?

ActiveSync acts in a similar way of OWA for connectivity to Exchange so hopefully it will solve your SMTP time out. It also uses DirectPush.Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com
