IP address binding with Exchange 2007 SP1
Hi, is it possible to bind Exchange 2007 SP1 services (not just the transport, but the UM and CAS etc as well) to specific IP addresses/network adapters? The scenario is as follows: Exchange 2007 SP1 server (with several roles installed) has 2 network adapters each (one adapter into the "production" network, another adapterin the "management" network). We would like to prevent Exchange to offer services into the "management" network (for security reasons, but also for efficiency). Thanks in advance.sj

Yes, in theory but this would be done in various places depending on the services.-Adjust IIS for the web services-Adjust send/receive connectors for mail transport-POP3/IMAP4 have listener settings under the HT role-RPC and SMB and other connections can best be controlled via DNS - you may have to adjust DNS for other services as well depending on your config.Ive done this before for the purposes of a hardware content switch. we wanted internal traffic to use a private ip and public use an external address. we did this with 2 NICs and ensured the 2nd wasnt registered in DNS.
