Import-Mailbox
Hi, I'm relatively new to Exchange 2007 so please excuse any obvious blunders. I discovered article bb691363.aspx which appeared to solve my problems for importing mailboxes from .pst file from another internet email system. Subsequently, I downloaded everything I needed and installed the Exchange 2007 Tools on a management wkstn running Windows XP SP2. All seemed well. However, when I attempt to run the Import-Mailbox cmdlet I receive an error stating that it is not a recognised cmdlet, function etc. Am I missing something obvious? Can anyone please throw some light on this error? Thanks all.

Do you have SP1 installed on your Exchange 2007 Server? It is a requirement to run import-mailbox. At this momentMicrosoft has service pack 1 beta 2 version.

i have also found myself in this situation. exchange 2007 does not support exmerge (the old tool to do this) and the import feature isnt yet released. the other option would be to use outlook and import email through the import/export wizzard.

Actually default domain admins have inherited Deny Receive-As permission which blocks full mailbox access. Normal best practice while playing with import/exports is... - Keep away from admin accounts. - Create a normal domain user account - Grant the full mailbox access to new domain user account. - Assign the Mailbox Import Export RBAC role to new user with below cmdlet... New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Role 'Mailbox Import Export' -User 'userName' - Add user into local admin group of Exchange server. - And run Import /Export-Mailbox on the workstation where Outlook 2010 x64 installed with Exchange 2010 Management Tools.MaximumExchange.ru

Thanks Max. This is actually an old post and the Exchange service packs have resolved this issue already.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629586.aspx
