Improper Server Cals
I just took over administrating a infrastructure where I needed to get more CAL's for my companies Terminal Server, Exchange 2K7, and Server 2K3R2. Upon further inspection and getting ready to install the added CAL's, I found out they set up the server
in "Per Server" and not per user/device.
I see how I can change it over to "Per User", but where I have not come across this before, I want to be sure that if/when I do this, it will not mess up what is already in place.
I also noticed that when trying to add the new cals to the exchange server, it does not give me any other option outside windows server, is this something new? I have always seen the option to add the CAL's to exchange and not windows server.
Do I dare ask if this was because of a bad config on one of the prior admins?
Thank you for any and all help. It will be most appreciated.

This is not really an Exchange issue. Generally, there is no need to add CALS to the server or even have the licensing service running. ( Unless this is an older version of SBS - which required it I believe).
Regardless. this is a better question for the Windows Forums :

or if there is a licensing question, your sales rep.
