Hello to all, I'm on an AD and Exchange cross forest migration and we have a restriction for some messaging protocols. The new Exchange Org. convention states that IMAP4 and POP3 can not be used anymore. We checked an App. supplier and it said that e-mails can be read by the App. using just IMAP4 or POP3 so there is a problem. Well I have one option, here it goes: 1- Create a new AD forest with a single Exchange, all on the same server --> Create the necessary App. mailboxes and enable IMAP4 on this server --> Configure App. to read e-mails that arrive at this new Exchange --> Configure the "real" production Exchange (not this new one) to forward e-mails to the App. mailbox on the new Exchange server. I believe that I should need to create a fake internal valid SMTP domain so recipients for this new created mailboxes would have a separate SMTP addressing. Do you have another options? Hello Leif, that could and option but Corp. doesn't want those protocols enabled and anyway HELP DESK should always disable POP and IMAP for any new user. Do you have an opinion about the proposed option? Best regards, EEOC.

Hi, The proposed solution should work. What about fault-tolerance? If these IMAP mailboxes are business critical you would need to build at least 2 domain controllers, 2 Exchange servers, monitoring environment, backup environment etc. I would try to convince the corp that the proposed solution is too expensive to implement and maintain instead of just doing the simple thing - enable POP3/IMAP4 for the mailboxes that require this Leif
