Information Store Crashes due to OWA Reminders
We are running Exchange 2003 SP2. If our users dismiss/snooze a reminder in OWA the information store crashes with an error: "Faulting application store.exe, version 6.5.7654.12, stamp 492cd78a, faulting module exoledb.dll, version 6.5.7654.12, stamp 492cd801, debug? 0, fault address 0x000edcb4" Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem. I am reaching the end of my sanity. Tried different hot fixes and getting nowhere!

Check if store.exe and exoledb.dll have same version. Have you applied any SP's recently? Are you getting any event IDs or its a silent information store crash?Might be, you need to run ADPLUS tool and collect dumps on the crash. Dumps can be sent to Microsoft support for a detailed investigation.Raj

Yes both are on version 6.5.7654.12 The most recent update applied was KB959897 to resolve an issue where the store crashed whenever anyone logged on and bring the versions to 6.5.7654.12 It fixed that issue but now we have one where it crashes because of reminders

The application event log shows Event ID 1000 - "Faulting application store.exe, version 6.5.7654.12, stamp 492cd78a, faulting module exoledb.dll, version 6.5.7654.12, stamp 492cd801, debug? 0, fault address 0x000edcb4" followed by Event ID 1010 - "Bucket 00000000, bucket table 0" That is all and EXBPA reports no issues

Try reinstalling the SP2 again and then make sure the server is up to date with all the patches. Not sure if this doesnt help, probabaly need to get in touch with PSS with DUMP taken from ADPLUS.Raj

Thanks someone also suggested hotfix KB 970103 to upgrade the store and exoledb.dll It installed but did not upgrade the file version on the exoledb.dll The error is still there I already reinstalled SP2 and all the patches/updates using Microsoft Update but that did not help Tried Experts Exchange and no answers there either I guess I need Microsoft PSS. Thanks for the help Richard

Hi,Whether all users had this issue or just part of the user? Is this issue occurred in Outlook? Whether all the problematic users belong to the same mailbox store? If it is, please try to create a new mailbox store, then move the problematic user to this store and check this issue.ThanksAllen

Hi, I found this thread while looking for information to troubleshoot the exact same problem. This has been happening on our system since Nov, 5th, about once per day. As the store service can be started again, it is no critical issue, but still, I would like to get it solved. We are experimenting the exact same error (except for the memory offset and the fact that our server is in spanish): "Faulting application store.exe, version 6.5.7654.12, stamp 492cd78a, faulting module exoledb.dll, version 6.5.7654.12, stamp 492cd801, debug? 0, fault address 0x001116ac." And a few minutes later: "Aplicacin con errores: store.exe, versin: 6.5.7654.12, mdulo con error: exoledb.dll, versin 6.5.7654.12, direccin de error 0x001116ac." I have identified a user who seems to always log in a few seconds before the incident, I am moving his MBox to a different store as I write this, to see if that solves the problem. I am very interested in any further information regarding this problem. Thanks, Alterio.

Hi, I finally had to get help from Microsoft PSS. My problem turned out to be a problem with excdo.dll but that was only apparent after an analysis of the store.exe crash dump file. Seems to me that version mismatches between the core exchange files can cause this problem. The trick is knowing which one. I would advise you contact Microsoft PSS. I struggled with the problem for almost a month, they solved it in about 1 week. Regards Richard

Hi Richard,As isaid in my first post, i was sure that it has to go to MS PSS (3 years of PSS exp as exchange escalation engg.). These kind of silent crashes , are really tough to troubleshoot without ADPLUS dumps and Debug team to analyze it.Any ways , happy to hear that your issue got resolved.Raj
