Information Store Does Not Start with Service-Specific Error 0 (Zero)- how do I add missing AD object
Recently our Exchange 2003 SP2 server failed and we are unable to start the information store. Event logs display: Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7024 Description: The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated with service-specific error 0 (0x0). KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283179 (previously published under Q283179) provides a resolution: Use ADSI Edit to check the permissions on the following object or verify that it exists: CN=InformationStore,CN=ServerName,CN=Servers,CN=AdminGroupName,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=ExchangeOrgName,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=DomainName,DC=com This object does not exist in ADSIEdit. I have run both forestprep and domainprep and have not been able to recreate this object. Does anyone know which container this object belongs in?

If that object does not exist either it's hidden because you did mucked with dsacls and did some deny or it got accidently deleted. At this point the fastest recover is to run the installation again and run the reinstall option. Then re-service pack and apply all post updates and roll ups.
