Hello, I am about to proceed to KBs installation on my servers (edges x2, hubCas x2 and Mailbox x2). I have planned to gosht each servers before installing KBs and test the mailflow before updating the others. I wish to start with Edge 2 and Edge1 then hubcas 2 and hubcas 1 finally Mailbox 2 and mailbox 1 - Edge (multiple DNS Mail Exchanger (MX) records) - Hubcas (NLB) - Mailbox (failover cluster) Would you have any recommendation or advice? I have some doubt about my mailbox servers, do I need to configure anything or a sinple windows update will be just fine and won't create any service interruption? Thanks, Graig

the recomdndation about mailbox servers will be first apply hotfixes on the PASSIVE node and then, move the clusteredmailbox server or exchange virtual server to updated node. then again apply hotfix on the node that is passive now Dhruv

Thanks Dhruv, So when I do a [PS] >Get-ClusteredMailboxServerStatus I get: Identity : exch01 ClusteredMailboxServerName : EXCH01.company.intra State : Online OperationalMachines : {MBSERV02 <Active, Quorum Owner>, MBSERV01} FailedResources : {} OperationalReplicationHostNames : {MBSERV02, MBSERV01} FailedReplicationHostNames : {} InUseReplicationHostNames : {MBSERV02, MBSERV01} IsValid : True ObjectState : Unchanged I should then start updating the active node MBSERV01 and afterwards connect onto the MBSERV02 then run the below command to swap the passive (MBSERV02) to active node: Move-ClusteredMailboxServer –Identity:MBSERV02 –targetmachine:MBSERV01 Then the MBSERV01 become the passive node and the MBSERV02 active. This will let me install KBs on the MBSERV02. Once I am done installing updates I should log back onto the MBSERV01 and run the command: Move-ClusteredMailboxServer –Identity:MBSERV01 –targetmachine:MBSERV02 Could you please tell me if I am not misundertanding the manipulation? I guess for edge and Hubcas it should be just fine as long as I take a full image before going ahead with the KBs installation.. Thanks

Yes, apply to the passive node, reboot if necessary, then move the CMS to the other node and do the same thing. There is no requirement to move the cluster back to the original node, that is up to you.

from the output above MBSERV02 is the active and quorum owner. so you should apply KBs to MBSERV01 one fixes are applied and reboot is done if reqired.. move the cms to 01 .. and apply fix on 02Dhruv
