I am trying to install Exchange 2007. I have a Windows 2008 Domain. I first downloaded the Exchange software from Microsoft's web site. On my freshly loaded and patched Windows 2008 server, I tried toinstall Exchange. Ichose Custom Exchange Server Installation because I want to put my Roles on diferent servers. I am starting with the Client Access Server role. During the installation in the Copy Exchange Files portion of the installation, I get the error Installing product c:\Temp\Ex2007\exchangeserver.msi failed. Fatal error during installation. Error code is 1603. Last error reported by theMSI package is "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2337.".I thought, ok, I got bad software so I downloaded it again. Same error message. I found an Exchange Server Enterprise 2007 CD in my pile O'stuff so I thought I'd try that. Maybe the SP1 version has something wrong with it. Using this CD, it complains that it cannot find the Global Catalog server. I checked and my first DC is also the GC. This just isn't going as smooth as I'd like.......

Hi,You can not install Exchange 2007 RTM on Windows 2008, it requires Exchange 2007 SP1. I just fixed it. I have been downloading the software from theVolume Licensing Service Center. On that site the file is 5.7 GB. I tried expanding the file with a third party product and I also burned it to a DL DVD. Both gave me the same errors. I thought that maybe the free trial file from the MS Exchange website might be saved differently and should give that a try. I found that thefile thereis only 875 MB. After installing the trial version, which went ok, I added my serial number. So far it looks ok. Thanks for answering my call for help.
