Installing E2007 from product CD on Win2003 R2 x64 SP2 server, with all roles except the Edge Transport. Logged in as the domain administrator. For anyone who might run into this problem installing Exchange 2007 SP2 - this is the only google hit I could find for this problem and I just encountered it. I believe this is caused by a corrupt performance registry due to NTFS file/folder compression. Reboot your server and run lodctr /r from a command prompt. Then re-run setup.
