Installation req of SCR With SCC
Dear All,I have to install SCR NODE WITH SCC CLUSTER in 2008,1)does the source need a additional lan interface for scr that have the different subnet with my cluster ip.2)Does the target have only the single lan interface.3)Does the target havea single node cluster config with single machine .4)does i need to add a network resource in CMS in source server of scr.5)does i install a passive node on the target .basically i m following the below mentioned url .http://blogs.technet.com/timmcmic/archive/2009/07/12/enabling-standby-continuous-replication-to-use-an-alternate-network-interface-in-exchange-2007-sp1.aspxPlease let me help for that so that i can configure it succesfully .thanks and regardsSyed Arsalansyed.arsalan

Based on my knowledge, the following is the answers for your questions Q: does the source need a additional lan interface for scr that have the different subnet with my cluster ip A: The purpose of this article is to involve an additional NIC for SCR log replication. So, yes, we would need a new NIC into the source. And since the source and target reside on different subnets, we will need to use persistent static routes in order to ensure network communications as the article told Q: Does the target have only the single lan interface A: No. The target need two NICs in order to separate the log shipping and database seeding Q: Does the target have a single node cluster config with single machine A: Yes, its recommended to set the target as a cluster node with mailbox server role installed. By the way, we will need another server to hold the CAS and HUB server role Q: does i need to add a network resource in CMS in source server of scr A: Yes, an IP address resource as the article suggested Q: does i install a passive node on the target A: Yes Resources: Active Route Gets Removed on Windows 2008 Failover Cluster IP Address Offline

Check out the following two articles. When using SCR with SCC the first decision you must make is what recovery option you want. Your server design and configuration will depend upon this decision.
