Installing Exchange 2007 on Windows Server 2008
I have been trying to setup a lab test environment for a production deployment of Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows Server 2008 in a new Server 2008 AD environment. Fresh install of Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition, only has Symantec AV installed, no previous Exchange versions, very clean. I have tried several different scenarios, all ending with the same problem. The install goes fine, but when I try to create a new mailbox, d/l, whatever, I get the following error:
The Exchange server address list service failed to respond. This could be because of an address list or email address policy configuration error.
I tried the following installation scenarios:
Try #1
DC is Windows Server 2008, own box, 2008 Forest function level
Exchange is separate box, Windows Server 2008, installed in the domain, with PowerShell, IIS (all prereqs from Technet)
Try #2
DC and Exchange same box, Windows Server 2008, 2000 Forest and Domain Function level
Used Server Manager to install prereqs, let setup do the AD changes for me
Try #3
DC and Exchange same box, Windows Server 2008, 2000 Forest and Domain Function level
Used Server Manager to install prereqs, manually use setup to do AD changes, then run normal setup
Try #4
DC and Exchange same box, Windows Server 2008, 2000 Forest and Domain Function level
Manually do prereqs from command line using ServerManagerCmd, let setup do AD changes for me
Everytime, same problem after install / reboot.
Any thoughts?
Thanks Dirk
