Could some one tell me what is the pre requisites for exchange 2010 step by step with details for a beginner ... because i installed before but unfortunately have some unknown errors.. my plan is : 1-Server for active directory 2- separate server for HT and CAS 3- Server for MB Regards Syamand

thanks for your reply, in the link NO. 1 : step No. 3 setup /PrepareAD [/OrganizationName:<organization name>] or setup /p [/on:<organization name>] what it mean by Organization name ? it is server name or domian name ? whe do these steps after installing active directory right ? Organization Name would be the name of your 'Exchange orgnaization'. If this is a first Exchange 2010 in the fresh organization then you can pick up any name. If you have more than one domain than you can run /PrepareAllDomain and it'll prepare all those domain(like abc.com, xyz.com etc) in the forest for exchange 2010 installation and if you just have one domain then you can run /PrepareDomain to have that one domain prepared. Exchange Pre-Deployment Analyzer to perform an overall topology readiness scan of your environment. When you run the Exchange Pre-Deployment Analyzer, it provides a detailed report that will alert you if there are any issues within your organization, which could prevent you from deploying Exchange 2010. For example, the Exchange Pre-Deployment Analyzer will notify you if you haven't deployed the minimum required Exchange service pack on all your existing Exchange servers. The checks performed by ExPDA are similar to the pre-requisite checks implemented (via Exchange Best Practices Analyzer) in the Exchange 2010 Setup program; in fact ExPDA is based off the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer (ExBPA) engine. However, unlike Exchange 2010 setup, this tool focuses only on overall topology readiness and not the ability to run Exchange 2010 on the local computer. The scan also performs a deep analysis of each existing Exchange 2003/2007 server to verify that it has the necessary updates and configuration in-place to support Exchange 2010. the problem was , after installing everything i tried to open an outlook on a client machine using administrator as a login name , then i went through the wizard , to auto configuration . it can find the user name and email address but it later on it says it can not logon to the server then when i click Ok , it ask for user name and password when i give it same problem apeare... so that is why i decided to do everything from the scratch ... and lets see what we will get ... could you please tell me how to run from elvated command prompt . i right click on command prompt and click run as administrator then i type setup/ps it gave me error ...setup is not regonizable how i find Domain/Enterprise/Schema Admin user ? i logged in with domainName\Administrator summary of what i did 1- i install windows server 2008 r2 from scratch 2- install AD user and computer and run dc promo after that i went to run and i typed : ServerManagerCmd -i RSAT-ADDS then i wene to run setup/prepareSchema but nothing happen as i mentioned before .. did i miss some thing? regards

You are opening the command prompt correctly from your description. You need to change the working directory in your command prompt to the Exchange installation files. You should see a setup.com file in that location. You will only have to specify the Organization name once (ever). Once this entry is made in AD, it will never ask again. As far as the order goes: setup.com /prepareschema setup.com /prepareAD (this is where you would need to specify organization name if this is first Exch server in AD forest) setup.com /prepareDomain or /prepareAllDomains (if you have multiple domains in your forest) Note the requirements of the org name: The Exchange organization name can contain only the following characters: A through Z a through z 0 through 9 Space (not leading or trailing) Hyphen or dash The organization name can't contain more than 64 characters. The organization name can't be blank. You are looking at the Organization Health report. this does not refresh/gather data automatically. In order to show something there, you need to click on the "Collect Organizational Health Data" link in the actions pane in that view.
