Installing e2k7 in e2k/e2k3 environment
Hi all, I was looking around to see if anyone has installed Exch2007 in a e2k/2k server and e2k3/2k3 server environment, my plan is to remove the old 2000 platform and makethat a e2k7/08 server box, Iran the BPA tool and said that my 2k server needs to be 2k3or later for it to install, but I also read thatas long as you have a2000 native mode environment you'll be fine, so not sure now,I know your not supposed to install in a prod env but I don't really have a lot of resources to play around with. I have a new install of server08 RC1 and I have the e2k7 sp1 trial download, has anyone gone by this avenue yet, thanks in advanced.

The AD requirement for Exchange 2007SP1 is at least Windows 2000 Forest Functional Level with schema master FSMO role should be sitting on Win2k3SP1 or Win2k3R2. Moreover, each site where Exchange 2007 resdes, you should have at least one GC that has Win2003SP1 (that would be dc to specify to the set up). Here is the quick reference article, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719.aspx, b/c I cannot keep this stuff in my head, just in my favorites.
The message that you might have gotten from ExBPA is about that OS on the current exchange servers is incompatible. U need windows 2003 x64 or above.
if your AD environment is sufficient, then u need another box that you can install Windows 2008 RC1 (btw, it's not supported in prod by MS until RTM). Prep the forest and domain, and then install required roles on windows 2008. Follow the deployment guide.
Personally, I have experimented with Windows 2008 and Exchange 2007SP1 but it was not in co-existence scenario. Maybe other can provide caveats that I have not seen.
