Intermittent issue with emails not being marked as replied after they are replied to.
I have a use that's experiencing issues with emails in her inbox not being marked as replied. I've had this issue before with a shared mailbox and I posted on this forum, but never got a sure resolution. Here is the link to my previous post, none of the
fixes worked: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/exchangesvradmin/thread/d40ad14c-24f6-4a08-9dc2-783211aef38d
This is an intermittent issue and she's only identified 2 emails that it's happened with. I verified with her Sent Items that she indeed did respond to them. We are using Windows XP SP3 32bit and Office 2007 SP3 in caching mode.
Any ideas?

No, I haven't. If I do try it, should it correct the emails by marking them as replied? Or does it get applied only to new messages that get replied to?

Does the issue occurs in OWA?
If you move the mailboxes to another server or databae, does the issue contines?

The same problem does happen in OWA. I have not tried moving the mailbox to another DB. What would be the logic behind that?
Also, I should mention that the mailbox having the issue is a shared mailbox that a few people have attached to their outlook. It seems to only happen with that mailbox. All other users are unaffected.

Hi Frank,
Sorry for the delay response.
I was suspecting the issue was caused by Outlook addins or forms which might break the message attributes. To isolate the fault, we need to work in OWA to see if the issue reoccurs.
You may also verify the attributes in MFCMAPI tool Hope it is helpful.

The issue does indeed occur in OWA. I've never used MFCMAPI tool before, what attributes would I be looking for?

PR_MESSAGE_FLAGS
The Default should be something like 0x2 (MSGFLAG_UNMODIFIED) when it is BOLD and when
it is read it should be something like 0x3 (MSGFLAG_UNMODIFIED and MSGFLAG_READ).
Please also check to see if there is mobile device involved. Thanks.
