Internal mail or not
We have a case whereby our old IT section tupe'd across to another organisation, but they are still perceived as internal staff, and thus email sent to them is perceived to be internal-to-internal mail. Before, documents would be sent from HR section to IT under the impression that these were internal-to-internal mails, which before they will of been. However, now there email address reflects the company they tupe'd across to, lets say @newcomp.com, and I know that an @oldcomp.com sending email to @newcomp.com doesnt neccesarily mean its external traffic, as that mail system may be bringing into 2 mail domains traffic. Is there anyway to tell from like delivery reports or elsewhere from sent items if an email went externally? Where could you look.

Lots of lost American's now wondering what TUPE means. ("Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment" - where company 1 takes over a contract and the staff from company 2, and has to bring across all of their terms and conditions - a British employment law thing, which is irrelevant to the question). There is nothing as the sender that you can do to see if the email was sent out of site. Message tracking will tell the administrator where the email has gone and as the recipient you can look at the header. A delivery report might tell you what server the message was delivered to, but that very much depends on the configuration of the email system. Phew! Thanks. I was going to Google it before asking "WTF is _tupe_?"! >There is nothing as the sender that you can do to see if the email was sent out of site. Hmmm. Do Mail Tips do that for individual recipients, or just for DLs that have external addresses in the membership? I forget! -- Nevermind, I just checked. It doesn't. :-( >Message tracking will tell the administrator where the email has gone and as the recipient you can look at the header. Although I guess you could use Mail Tips to indicate the message is going off site. It would require each contact/account being adjusted though. Simon. Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.
