Is Exchange what I need?
I am using Google's Gmail. I have two computers in one home and two others in another house. All of these have Outlook 2007 on them accessing the inbox of Gmail and able to send from Gmail. Also I have an iPhone doing the same thing.
If I want all of the computers to be in sync with all of my Gmail folders and Calendar and Contacts is Exchange the thing that I need? Will this also keep all of this in sync with my iPhone? Very Importantly, what are the basic steps for setting
up Exchange (in simple language, if possible)?

Exchange will be probably overkill. Try connecting to your gmail account over IMAP4.Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:EMA 2K7,EDA Win 7,ES,SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

I agree with Mark, but if you can flip the $ for an Exchange server (and someone to set it up) it has TONS of beneficial business centric features. It will do what you want much better than GMail.

Yeah. Maybe a bit of analysis on the business might yield some use for Small Business Server but at the moment Exchange would be wrong for him.

Hi GardenGuy,
Sure, if you just have a smal orgnization to service, you could use SBS 2008, which has exchagne integrated.
You could refer to below:
