Is it possible to have more than one postmaster account in an exchange 2007 organization?
Ihave an MS exchange 2007 organization with multiple exchange 2007 servers in different domains residing on it. My question is:Is it possible to have more than one postmaster e-mail account in the exchange organization with to cater for each of the domains in the exchange organization? For example,postmaster1@domain1.com;postmaster2@domain2.com;postmaster3@domain3.comwhere domain1, domain2 and domain3 are all part of my exchange organization? If this is possible, please how will I go about it?My second question is: If the above is possible, can I then delegate different people to manage each of the postmasters accounts in the exchange organization? Also please how will I go about it if this is possible? Thanks for your help.Nicechap

Hi there,Whilst technically possible by segregating Hub Transport Servers to the SMTP Domain and applying the unique postmaster account to them (using submissionoverride or scoping on AD Site), it isn't really realistic for NDR's.Read: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb430765.aspxNote that you can create mailboxes and assign postmaster@domain1.com, postmaster@domain2.com, postmaster@domain3.com for inbound messages as noted above. So that's out of the box. If you want to purchase something that will do this for you though head over to Ivasoft:"RightPostmaster for Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server" http://www.ivasoft.com/rpm2007.shtmlor look into writing your own custom Transport Agents.I hope this helpsOliverOliver Moazzezi | Exchange MVP, MCSA:M, MCTS:Exchange 2010, BA (Hons) Anim | http://www.exchange2007.com | http://www.exchange2010.com | http://www.cobweb.com |
