Is it possible to retrieve a Model Name for a mobile phone based on the deviceID???
I currently working for a compagny which devellop an EAS server, in order to synchronized data between a Mobile device and a server. But the problem that we have is that we are not able to distinguish the model name of the device in order to displayed the right model name and the right phone picture on the webUI associated to the server, lik ethe active sync client available on most of the device that we have test didn't send <settings:DeviceInformation> in the initial Provision command request which is a opional features in the MS-AS protocol. So i wondering if is it possible to use the DeviceID in order to retreive the model, but the problem is that i didn't find any information about how the DeviceID is build. I have found the following documentation: http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/C/C/4CCCA1AD-09F8-48A8-9C06-9491ADBCA1E7/Mobile%20Device%20IDs.pdf Where it's state that the device ID is sometimes based on another device-specific number, such as the International Mobile Equipment Identity( IMEI) number. So in wondering if the device ID is like the IMEI with a part which define the model (8 first digit of the IMEI) and a part which is unique to each device (8 last digit of the IMEI)? Rgds. Charles
