Is there a solution on Public Address book?
Dear All, I am facing a problem from my customers, they would like have a solution to achieve the functions as below on Exchange 2003, 1. There is a public address book, which will be maintained by only one people. In this public address book, there will setup the address information of all the contracts involve the business of whole company, such as purchse (suppliers), sales (Cutomers), of course, the employees should be included.2. There will setup some restric to accress the public address book. For example, the purchase department employees should only access the employees of whole company and suppliers contacts, And the sales department employees should only access the employees of whole company and customers contacts.3. Sure, the suppliers or customers email address is not the same email domain. Is there a solution can do it? Looking forward your comments. Jeffers

Hi Jeffers, I am assuming that the additional address books (aside from the Global Address book which already includes all mailboxes in the company) are (or will be) located inPublic Folders. If my assumption is correct, you can restrict access for the Public folders directly on Outlook. You can set the permissions individually per useror assign them at the group level. Best approach would be to create distribution groups (or mail enabled security groups) then start assigning permissions. As a prerequisite, you will first need to generate (if you haven't already done this) separate Public Folders for each address book type(like Customers and Suppliers). Let me know if this helps, Regards, Ilker Aydin http://adventuresofanitpro.blogspot.com

Hi, IIker Aydin, Thanks a lot for your comments. But I am not clearly about how to setup and use the addtional address books. Setup the restrict access for public folders is not too diffcult. Can me give me some links on it? Jeffers
