Is this possible with exchange?
Hi all, Basically I am doing a demo for my university dissertation and I have a question if this is possible with exchange: I have sharepoint server 2007 installed in a virtual machine (Windows Server 2003), workgroup setup. I need to set up some kind of smtp server locally to allow sharepoint to send emails, the inbuilt windows 2003 smtp does not work and I may not have internet access on the day. A suggestion was made to me to install exchange (which i have a copy of) onto the machine and set up some 'local' email boxes/email addresses (is this possible?!) with webmail access. The users email addresses in sharepoint can then be set to these local emails and then can view the email without the need for internet access. It will have to be a 32bit x86 version of exchange server as my virtual machine is not 64bit, is there a 32bit version of exchange 2007. If not is this still possible with exchange 2003?If anyone knows if this is possible then please let me know, Thanks, Alex

Alex,
Yes there is an evaluation version of Exchange 2007 32-bit, you can find it on the download site of Microsoft.
When you create a user on the exchange server it can also reed his/her e-mail via Webmail. I personally did not test it with Sharepoint but I expect it will work.
