Issue backing up Exchange 2007 using Windows Server Backup EBS SP2
We are using Windows EBS 2008. I am trying to Backup Exchange using the Windows Server Backup Tool made available in Service Pack 2. Unfortunately every time I run a full backup I get an error advising the "Application will not be available for recovery". The error is the same as shown in the Tech Net article shown below. http://blogs.technet.com/b/dhardin/archive/2009/10/21/vss-backup-using-windows-server-backup-on-exchange-server-2007-sp2-fails-when-lcr-or-scr-is-enabled.aspx To give a bit of background on the configuration we have three physical drives on the Exchange Server which is running on a ESXi VM. Exchange is installed on the d: drive along with the first storage group. Interestingly the d: drive and the c: drive backup without any errors when using the same Windows Server Backup tool. When a full backup is ran it attempts to back up c:,d: and e:. The e: drive holds two storage groups and the public folders. The backup goes through the entire process but shows the warning on completion. I would be grateful for any assistance. Gary

Hi Frank, Im not convinced its an issue with EBS... I am shortly going to be migrating away from EBS using the Microsoft Migration Kit. The problem with EBS site's is they have a very small audiance and I doubt the problem will be viewed by many users. Rather than be palmed off to another forum, does anybody else have any possible solutions? Regards GaryGary Collinson
