Issues with Sent Items
We have a user that has emails show up in their sent items that do not get sent. The user is actually trying to send these emails. The user has an iPod and I am wondering if this may be causing the problem with the user's mailbox. They
are using Outlook 2003.
I was curious if anyone has seen anything like this before.
Thanks,
RJ

How do you know that they're not being sent? Is this coming from Message Tracking or some other mechanism?

Hello RJ,
If we login to OWA for the same user do you see email in sent items. Is that every email sent does not deliver from outlook. What about OWA ? are you able to send emails from OWA. If you are able to send emails using OWA then try outlook in safe mode and
send email.
Please find the article below for Command-line switches

Thanks,

Hi,
Did you mean the email was displayed into Sent Itesm folder but not receive by the recipient? Did you check it in OWA? Did you confirm whether the message was stuck in the queue?
Was any error message received in the Applicatio Event Log or by the sender?
Thanks
Allen

Hello Exchange Freak,
Please do the following steps:-
1) Increase the Dianostic logging on MSExchange Transport to Expert.
2) Enable the NCSA Log & Message Tracking on the server.
3) Configure the same account ( Outlook Profile) on another client Machine and then try to send mails to internal as well as internet user. -- And then
Track that Email in Message Tracking & NCSA Log on the Exchange server.
4) Or u can loggin from OWA account for that user and then try to send mails to internal as well as internet user. -- And then Track that Email in Message Tracking & NCSA Log on the Exchange server.
Do this steps & Let us know, so we can suggest the solution.MicroSoft Exchange Admin. & Connector EXCHANGE2010, MCSE, MCTS, MCSA MESSAGING, CCNA & GNIIT

The messages never get sent from the user so they do not show up in message tracking. They just move to the user's sent items. The user can send most email normally, this is a sporadic issue, which is actually happening for several users.

Hi,
Since the message went into the sent items, that indicates the message entered into the Submission queue which should be record in the Message Tracking Log.
Thanks

The items do not show up in the Message Tracking logs. Technically, something could be saved to the sent items folder without acutally being sent, couldn't it?

Hi,
That is possible. If the email is just saved into the Sent Items, it will not be sent.
Thanks
