Installed Office 2013 Pro after uninstalling 2010. Everything works fine except Word. I have tried everything to set Word 2013 as the default program to no avail.

Before you get tips on what you could try fill us in on what you aleady have tried. That way you won't get tips you have to answer to with "I've tried that, did not work".

Example: did you right click any document in the Windows Explorer and from that menu and choose "Open with.." and set the checkbox in that same dialog to always use this program to open files of this type?

Have you tried running a repair of your Office 2013 installation? This may recover the corrupting registry keys or dll registrations which may cause this issue. See:
