I have noticed that when I sign onto my owa account, items appear in the Outbox. However I know they were sent because when I sign into my Outlook, they are in the sent box. This is happening in my environment as well. It happens when sending messages from Outlook (we are using Outlook 2007) in cached mode. Microsoft has stated that this is a bug with no hotfix yet. The work around is to remove the items from the outbox using OWA.
