Journaling- both message and envelope
Our compliance solution requires us to envelope journal all email messages to the system. However, we have a database that can take messages that are message journaled to an outlook client and can attach them to a the contact in the system.
So basically, I need to message journal and envelope journal at the same time. I know we can't do this natively in exchange. So I think there's two options but can't seem to find the solution:(1) Can I use anevent sink can pull a copy of the message in message format while still allowing the rest of the journaling to be in envelope format? (2) Is it possible to extract the message (the attachment in an envelope journal) and save it in an outlook client? I have a spare exchange server and am running Exchange 2003 SP2, enterprise.

The difference of envelope journaling from message-only journaling is that it allows you to archive P1 message headers (envelope headers), which you can use Archive Sink utility to accomplish it
The difference between an Archive Sink and Journaling is: An Archive Sink allows only the capturing of e-mails that flow through a specific SMTP virtual Server. Journaling captures every e-mail that is sent or received by Exchange users in a specific mailbox store
-----------Refer to <What's the difference between Archive Sink and Journaling?>
So, you can use Archive Sink to archive the P1 headers of all messages, and keep message-only journaling
