Junk E-mail Settings
Hello, I'm not sure which topic this will fall under for Exchnage 2007, but I'm having a problem with our client "Junk E-mail Settings." What I mean by this is ever since we migrated over to Exchange 2007, most of our client e-mail is being sent to the Junk E-mail folder on Outlook (both 2003/2007 type clients). It doesn't matter how something is set. Is there a way to manage this centrally? I've added the Outlook Exchange 2007 Admin Pack for Group Policy, but our client e-mail is still going to Junk E-mail. This was never a real problem when we were using Exchange 2003. Any feedback or advice on how to correct this, will be very appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Eric, Does Anti-Spam Agent enabled on your Exchange 2007? If yes, then you need to verify the SCL thresholds in your Exchange environment & on individual user level also. Adjusting the Spam Confidence Level Threshold

Do you have Edge Transport server role? If yes then you can find on it. If it is enabled on Hub Transport server explicitly then you can find it in Organization Configuration -> Hub Transport -> Anti-Spam How to Install / Uninstall Anti-Spam in Exchange 2007 If it is enabled on any of the transport server then you can see the SCL values by using below command. Get-ContentFilterConfig | FL You can re-configure it with Set-ContentFilterConfig command. How to Enable and Configure the Spam Confidence Level Thresholds

We do have an Edge Transport server role. I still cannot find the Anti-Spam settings in the Orginization Configuration on CMS, Edgeor Hub. Get-ContentFileterConfig | FL. I ran that command on the Edge Server. I lowered the setting for SCL Reject to 5 from 7 with no improvement. Our clients are still complaining of e-mail going to Junk E-mail. Please help. I probably should also say that we have users that are both in cached and non-cached Exchange mode. SCLRejectThreshold : 5SCLRejectEnabled : True

Hi, How about the situation in OWA? If it disappears, we could consider its a client issue, check your Outlook rules and anti-spam settings. If the issue still occurs, that must be caused by server. The setting you pasted above is the default setting, so the value could not be a problem. Thank you for the config file. I copied it over to a notepad document. Do I need to modify any of the configurations? For instance: [Platforms]Platform1=Win16Platform2=NTx86Platform9=Win95 Or this: [Properties]Property01=SCL[Property.SCL]Type=3 I got the Config installed. I can see the SCL levels of e-mail. All Inter-ogrinizational seems to be a "-1" or "0" How will this help me set up Exchange 2007 for content filtering?

Hi, You dont need to modify anything for that file. Regarding SCL -1 and 0, see the following explanation: Spam ConfidenceLevel Spam Categorization -1 Reserved by Microsoft Exchange Server for messages submitted internally. A value of -1 should not be overwritten because it is this value that is used to eliminate false positives for internally-submitted e-mail. 0 Assigned to messages that are not spam. 1 Extremely low likelihood that the message is spam. 9 Extremely high likelihood that the message is spam. Please understand if you have a improper settings in your Outlook junk-mail configuration, it also can lead this. Check it at Outlook--tools--options--preferences tab--Junk E-mail. The things we should clarify: Please use OWA or other email client to receive emails and let us know the results. Do your Inter-organizational emails also go to Junk-email folder? Elvis

No, what I mean is I understood the SCL Levels. We have clients whose customer e-mails are going directly to Junk E-mail. This was never a problem before; not until we migrated to Exchange 2007. How do I fix this? And, I'll say again: We have users in both Exchange Mode and Cached Exchange Mode. This is problem is happening to both types.

Have you tried set-MailBox mailbox -SCLjunkEnabled $false and see what happens then?
