Junk Mail
Hello,
I have an exchange server 2007. One of the user is getting an error message when he tries to move some mails from Junk folder "
cannot add to the server junk email lists, you are over the size allowed on the server. The junk email filter on the server will be disabled until your junk email lists have been reduced to
size allowed " .
Can someone help to solve this issue?
Regards
Tonio

You can increase at the server level for everyone: I believe this still works for 2007.

Hi Tonio,
From your description, I understand that you got an error “cannot add to the server junk email lists, you are over the size allowed on the server.
The junk email filter on the server will be disabled until your junk email lists have been reduced to size allowed”. For this issue, you can follow these methods to troubleshoot the problem:
1.
Client Side Resolution: Use MFCMAPI to delete the Junk Mail rules, until the size is allowed.
2.
Server Side Resolution: By default the size of the Junk Mail Rule is 512 KB but this value can be increased on the server side by adding the “Max Extended Rule Size"
to the Exchange Server. You can follow this document to achieve that goal:

MFCMAPI is not required as users can remove any safe senders/recipients/blocked senders via Outlook or OWA.
I would also argue that adding entries to the blocked senders list is a waste of time and if there are large amount of entries there, they should be removed.
