KB911829 Installation error
Hello,When I try to install http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911829 to fix the red X issue on Vista and W7 when you try to write a new email, I got an error message:Update for Exchange Server 2003 (KB911829) Setup ErrorSetup has detected that the version of the service pack installed on your system is lower than is necessary to apply this hotfix. At minimum you must have Service Pack 2 installed.The service pack 2 is installed since while either for Windows (2003 STD R2) and Exchange (STD 2003).I read in forums that some people has been able to fix this by reinstalling SP2. I tried this and it didn't worked for me.Please Help!Thx,Alex-QC

Hi,
First please check the patch for Exchange Server 2003 from registry.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\45D60EC31B27B44BA064E72E78CE04F\patch,
Besides, please verify if you meet the system requirement: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows Server 2003; Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-Bit x86); Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1. Exchange 2003 SP2 must be installed prior to installing this update.

I reinstalled the EXCHANGE 2003 SP2 and I have been able then to install the patch.

Hi,The registry entry is to check the patch that you have applied for Exchange.So for your scenario, we notice that there's patch has been successfully installed on the Exchange Server.Anyhow,glad to hear that the problem has been solved after re-installed SP2.Regards,Xiu
