Kindly help
Hi I am a newbie to Exchange Server 2007 . I am entrusted with doing a POC for a client who has recently purchased Exchange Server Enterprise 2007 . I was able to install Exchange Server on a 2008 Box which is also configured to act as the Domain Controller . I have been given a Public IP which the client has. Internal Mail flow is working fine however I am unable to set up the external mail flow . I am trying to use a smart host and in the send connector setting I am providing the Public IP. Moreover what should i provide in the accepted domains list as the error i keep on getting that the public mail servers are rejecting my messages because the DOMAIN name could not be identified . I have a public domain name : pfcindia.com : which however is hosting a website : that shouldn't be an issue right ??. I have configured the netwok settings as : ip ADDRESS : THE PUBLIC IP ADDRESS , THE PRIMARY dns I HAVE GIVEN THE LOCAL SYSTEMS ip ADDRESS AND THE SECONDARY i HAVE GIVEN THE isp'S dns SERVER address. Is there any information i need to acquire from the ISP . Kindly guide me so that I can get the basics right !!!Thanks a ton in advance :)

Hi,In the accepted list , you should put in the name of the SMTP domain on which you will be recieving emails. for smart host you should put any AV or anti spam servers (if you have) or else route it directly to the internet.Make sure you have reverse PTR configured on the public DNS server. DNS settings are fine. try doing a nslookup on your domain and see if that resolves correctly. This is what i m getting from DNS> pfcindia.comServer: UnKnownAddress: 213.132.33.15 Name: pfcindia.comAddress: 164.100.52.131 > set q=mx> pfcindia.comServer: UnKnownAddress: 213.132.33.15 pfcindia.com MX preference = 0, mail exchanger = 164.100.45.10pfcindia.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = smtpgw.nic.inpfcindia.com nameserver = ns1.nic.inpfcindia.com nameserver = ren.nic.inren.nic.in internet address = 164.100.10.18Can you confirm if they are correct?? Hi,To send the email to Internet, you can choose the DNS or Smart host to get the MX records on the Send Connector in order to send the email out. From the error message, it seems that the remote server has the Reverse DNS been enabled. The remote server tries to verify that the clients IP address matches the host and domain that is submitted by the client in the EHLO/HELO command (Send Connector FQDN).Thus, you need to set up the PRT record to resolve this issue based on the Vinod's link.ThanksAllen
