Large folder size but few messages
I have user who has been getting "mailbox is over its size limit". Aquick check of the folder size showed 500MB in her Sent Items folder. However, when you look at the contents of the folder, there are maybea dozen messages that add up to 1 meg. We looked in her Sent Items inEntourage and in Outlook Web Access as well. This only appears to behappening with her account at the moment.
Is there a way that items are not showing up in the folder list? Couldit be that the space for those deleted items cannot be reclaimed?

Create new outlook profile without cache mode and check Sent Items folder by opening mailbox in MFCMapi which will show all kind of items (private, hidden etc...) in mailbox but be careful while deleting item verify subject line and size before deleting...
If you can't find message in MFCMapi then you may export the mailbox data to PST and recreate mailbox also...Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Most likely, Outlook is configured in cached Exchange mode, and the user deleted a lot of items in the Sent item folder. If the folder has not been synchronized to Exchange you can see this issue. So do a full synch and see if it is better...

I set up the non-cached profile in Outlook and ran MFcMapi. It still showed just a few messages in the Sent Items. However, when I took a 2nd look at the Sent Items folder in Outlook, I noticed 2 very large messages that we accounting for all the space. The user is running Entourage on a Mac. From what I could tell with the settings, it hooks up to Exchangevia HTTP.Even though we cleared the cache in Entourage, the big culprit messages were not showing up.It wasn't until a non-cached profile was set up in Outlook that you could see and delete the big messages.Thank you, Amit for your tip. It got me in the right direction.-PC
