Licensing clarification needed
I'm having issues with E7 licensing. One article I saw referred to "additive" CAL's. Does this mean that the download is the same for all versions, and that the license key defines the version by unlocking features? Can our SP1 evaluation be converted to a licensed version with a key? And how about Forefront - does it come bundled with either version, or is it a separate product purchase? Much appreciated, Ted

Hi, You can use a valid product key to go from the evaluation version (Trial Edition) to either Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition. You can also use a valid product key to go from Standard Edition to Enterprise Edition. You can also license the server again using the same edition product key. So you can upgrade from the Trial Edition to the retail version by purchasing the appropriate licenses and by entering the product key that you get when you make the purchase. For Forefront, you can refer to the below article: Upgrading from the evaluation version to the retail version http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb625082.aspx More information about Exchange 2007 license: Exchange Server 2007: Platforms, Editions, and Versions http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232170(EXCHG.80).aspx Hope it helps.
