Local Client settings

Hi,

I am facing an issue with Excel in which if I try to open an existing workbook, it closes any blank template (book 1) if open automatically.

My colleagues use the same excel version but for them, opening an existing workbook does not close down the blank one. Any idea if this is some kind of local setting?

Thanks

Hi,

As far as I know, Excel has no such local settings that effect your description of the phenomenon.  I noticed that you have posted the similar thread in MSDN forum and then known more information about this issue. In my view, this issue may be caused by some macros running automatically when Excel is starting.

I recommend we start Excel with safe mode and check if this issue still occurs.

If it works fine, please try to check the following two paths:

  • Excel XLSTART folder (64bit Excel C:\Program Files \Microsoft Office\Office15\XLSTART). Rename Excel 15.xlb.
  • Excel PERSONAL macro workbook. (C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART\PERSONAL.XLSB). Rename PERSONAL.XLSB

If this issue still exists, I recommend we re-create a user and preform Windows clean boot to check if there are some third-party programs cause this issue.
