Running Exchange 2007 sp2 on Windows 2008 sp2 Server - ran the best practice analyzer and got this message -Local Continuous Replication (LCR) is enabled for storage group 'First Storage Group' on server MAIL, but the LCR database is placed on the same physical disk as the running database.Found directions on how to move the passive database to another location (which i would like to do), but the instructions don't reflect what is actually in the panes. I've listed the instructions below. This is an example - Suspend Local Continuous Replication - Where is this? I can make it thru steps 1 thru 3, then i'm lost - i don't see this option - i'm able to disable local continuous replication, suspend storage group copy, restore storage group copy and update storage group copy. Any help would be appreciated.To use the Exchange Management Console to move a database enabled for LCR Open the Exchange Management Console. In the console tree, expand Server Configuration, and then click Mailbox. In the result pane, select the server on which you want to move the database. In the work pane, select the storage group containing the database to be moved. In the action pane, click Suspend Local Continuous Replication. When the Administrative Suspend dialog box appears, enter an optional comment, and then click Yes to suspend replication. In the action pane, click Move Database Files. The Move Database Files Wizard appears. If you want to move the active copy of the database, specify the move file location by clicking Browse for Exchange database file path. If you want to move the passive copy of the database, specify the move file location by clicking Browse for Local continuous replication Exchange database file path. Select the location, and then click OK to populate the file location field. Click Next to proceed. Review the Configuration Summary, and if it is correct, click Move to move the storage group files. Click Move to move the database. Click Finish to complete the wizard. In the work pane, select the storage group containing the moved database. In the action pane, click Resume local continuous replication.

Is it best to do this when no one is using exchange? or does it matter?

Hi,If possible all these tasks should be done when no one is using exchange.If you will move the database path the database will be dismounted and will not be accessible to users. In your case, you are moving the passive copy of the database, so that should not be an issue.However, pay attention to any dialog box informing you about the change during the process.-V

Ok, was able to move the databases and the public logs. Couldn't move the system files or log files - 29.1 gigs of logs equates to 31000 log files - process just hung. How do i fix this? Doesn't exchange remove these files when it doesn't need them anymore? Thanks in advance.

I trust here we are referring to passive copy log files. I trust you are using the procedure as mentioned in following link.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124751(EXCHG.80).aspxIf you are not able to move files through the wizard, you can use configuration only parameter and then manually copy the files.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997256(EXCHG.80).aspxAs far as removing the log files is concerned,If you will take full/incremental backup against the active copy the log files should truncate. I am not sure of the algorithm of log file truccation of passive copy. However, it should be automatic but before that:Check if you still have old log files for active copy and your backups are working fine.-V
