While I'm no Active Directory specialist, I doubt that the LMHOSTS method works with Windows XP / 7 and Active Directory-based domain controllers... Right. Look at the date of the Savill article: January 9, 2000. Wasn't W2K released in Feburary of that year? At any rate, there are too many references to WINS and NT 4.0 in that article for my taste. I would go with the first link from JAS. Even if the LMHOSTS *did* work, adjusting the SRV weights is probably the way to go, given the number of DS MVPs who recommend it. * I want to make one of the client machine to be authenticated with SeverA and another Windows 7 client to be authenticated with SeverB. Could you elaborate (explain) the reasons for wanting to do this? Load balance perhaps? And this is within a single site, correct?
