MRM in Exchange 2007
Hello all, I have been assigned to implement MRM policy in our infrastructure. We are running enterprise Exchange server 2007 SP 3. I have the policies setup and configured. One of my policy says delete anything older than 3 years and present
a custm manged folder with retention settings (not to delete anything). The whole idea of presenting the custom managed folder is because users can move whatever they need to that folder and be excluded from my deletion retention settings. Unfortunately
all these settings are on the same policy meaning it will be deleted and present them with a folder at the same time. How can I avoid this? I would like to present the folder first so users will get time to move their stuff then apply my other policy to delete
stuff older than 3 years. May be two different policies? Can both policies be applied to a mailbox at the same time? Also, is it possible to have more than one retention settings to a managed default folder? For an example, I have mailboxes requiring
different retention settings. One should be to delete anything older than 3 years and the other one is to delete anything older than 90 days. How can I accomplish that? Any help is appreciated.

ok, I can create more policies but I have to link the folders to the policy. And these folders can have only one setting or more?

Sukh, can you clarify little more. I am a bit confused.
Managed folders can have more than one content settings? If yes, I create content settings for "Inbox" to delete older than 30 days and another setting for 90 days. And I link "Inbox" folder to my policy. Which settings will it take place, 30 or
90?

it depends on the content and type of messages, for e.g normal items & voicemail, so if you apply this, then all items will still be processed but only the voicemail setting will be applied to voicemail.Sukh
