MSDTC and WMI on Exchange 2007 Single Copy Cluster
I have a bit of a mess on one of my exchange 2007 scc members. I recently removed MSDTC which had failed but as it is no longer required in Exchange 2007 clusters I simply removed it as a cluster resource and removed MSDTC service from the server. I did this by following up until step 9 in the following document:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/867520After rebooting I now have a number of issues with the WMI configuration and I cannot start DCOM which I think is required for me to install the operations manager agent on this server. When I attempt to enable dcom from the component services snap in I get the following error:Event ID: 4691 The run-time environment was unable to initialize for transactions required to support transactional components. Make sure that MS-DTC is running. (DtcGetTransactionManagerEx(): hr = 0x8004d01b)I also have the following WMI errors:WMI ADAP was unable to process the performance libraries: 0x80041001Can anyone tell me:1. Even though MSDTC is no longer required to be a cluster resource in exchange 2007 does it need to be installed for dcom to work properly so that it can interact with operations manager 2007?2. If I have to rebuild my WMI respository, how can I ensure that the exchange 2007 mof objects are included in the new repository.Appreciate any responses on this. Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong forum section. Thanks,Ian

I've just found that exchange 2007 does not need WMI as it uses powershell for monitoring so that answers part 2 of my question. I just need to know about the MSDTC component.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa579354.aspx

Hi Ian, This forum is for Exchange related issues. For question about System Center Operation Manager 2007, please use Microsoft public newsgroup for SCOM which would be the most relevant newsgroup for your question: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/opsmgr/bb839593.aspx?lc=1033 Mike
