MSExchangeIMAP4 Event ID: 1009 simultaneous connections made by user exceeded maximum
We have a customer whose IMAP4 connection is being refused because he has exceeded the maximum number (16) connections. It generates an error in the event logs.Source: MSExchangeIMAP4Category: GeneralEvent ID: 1009I have been unable to find any information on this. Is anyone aware if it's possible for me to tell where these connections are coming from, or if I can reset/close the connections?

Can you describe your Exchange environment and the client software (outlook, entourage etc..) and full event with description? In Exchange 2007, we can set IMAP settings on CAS server with Set-IMAPSettings cmdlet and you can increase per user connection with MaxConnectionsPerUser switch. Check out if it helps... Hi,If you're using Exchange 2007, Amit's suggestion should do the trick. If the issue persists, could you please help gather the information required by Amit above? Thanks,Elvis

Do you know how long these sessions will stay "open"? We are having this issue with a third party system making IMAP calls to Exchange and I have bumped the max connections to 75 but I'm looking for how long it takes for the connections to time out. Any help would be appreciated.

we are also having the same issue, with the pop3 accounts but for exchange it is working fine. i have made the changes in the pop3 settings from 16 to 100, still the problem persists the issue is increasing from 1 user to 5 users. As a work around, we are renaming the existing account & creating new accounts. if any one had permanent solution please share the same. Thanks
