Mail Enabled Public Folder
Hello, I am using Exchange 2010 however would like to ask why when I enabled mail to a public folder, a mailbox was not created for the same public folder. Thanks

If I just right click a public folder and click mail enable, should this create a new mailbox in EMC under recipient configuration and Mailbox ? no errors and e-mail for the public folder works fine however I cannot find the mailbox in EMC

No, mail-enabling a public folder does not create a mailbox. It creates an object in AD viewable in ADUC under the Microsoft Exchange Systems Objects container for that domain, but that is not something you need to typically need to mess with. The only way to see all the public folders properties is via the Public Folder Console in the EMC toolbox or with Powershell.

and If I want to give a special user administrative permission and from powershell I run allextendedrights how can the user manage the public folder, does he need to use PFMC ?

What do you mean by "administrative permissions"? What would you like this user to be able to do with the public folder?

I want to give a user the right to modify the quota of a Public Folder. I done that from powershell with add-publicfolderadministrativepermission and modifypublicfolderquotas powershell command. Now that the user has the permissions, from where he can effect these permissions just give, I think he cannot adjust the quota from Outlook.

you should use RBAC and grant the user Public folder managment role http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2010/management-administration/exchange-2010-role-based-access-control-part1.html http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876947.aspx and then user can either use outlook or PFMC to perform administrative tasks http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691188.aspx MCSE | MCITP - Server 2008 | MCITP - Exchange 2007 | MCTS - Exchange 2010

You can install the Exchange Management tool on the user's PC: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232090.aspxPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
