Mail Flow Stopped after failed installation of CU2 on Exchange Server 2013

Hi,

Today I planned to install CU2 update On my Exchange Server 2013. I already have CU 1 installed.

Everything was running perfect before running installation. Suddenly, installation of CU2 has failed and mail flow has stopped. I restarted the exchange server several time even restarted all the exchange services manually but no luck.

Now, Even Exchange transport service is not starting. I have tried it to set "Delay Restart" and restarted the server but no luck.

Everything is stopped now and I am afraid how to restore it back. I think installing CU2 has messed up everything.

I need very urgent help as nothing is working.

Looking for a quick answer...

Thanks in Adv

I Checked the Event Logs and found this error related to Transport Service

The Microsoft Exchange Transport service depends on the Microsoft Filtering Management Service service which failed to start because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

Hi,
Pls confirm that all compontens are in an active state.
Example:
Get-ServerComponentState -id SERVERNAME

I also had problems with Transport after I installed CU2-V2 and had to change the state of the components with the below commands.

Set-ServerComponentState -id SERVERNAME -Component Hubtransport -State Active -Requester Maintenance
Set-ServerComponentState -id SERVERNAME -Component FrontendTransport -State Active -Requester Maintenance

Hi,

Thanks for your response..

I checked the component status, it is showing inactive while services are running.

I tried to set active but no luck. The command is executing successfully but again when I check the status it shows inactive.

Pleas

Are you sure that all Exchange Services is started, including MSExchangeHM??
There must be something informative logged in Event Viewer.

Hi,
You might need to specify another requester than maintenance as I wrote above.
Pls see the below blog post on how to find out which one to use (registry setting)

Example:
Set-ServerComponentState -ID SERVERNAME -Component ServerWideOffline -State Active -Requester Depl
