Mail Forwarding from one Domain to Another in SBS
We have a client with a SBS 2003 Server. They have decided to change their email domain name. They now want some of the emails to be forwarded to new email addresses with the new domain name. Example: john@company1.com.au wants those emails to be forwarded to john@company2.com.au Can we do this from Exchange in an SBS 2003 Server and how are the forwarded emails accessed. Help is much appreciated. Guido Guido Zelenka

Not sure what you mean by forwarding and access in this context. Anyhow, the task on SBS 2003 would be to configure SBS to receive mail with multiple domains. In a transition phase the user John needs to receive mail on john@company1.com.au and john@company2.com.au. For the time being, the primary and only e-mail address is john@company1.com.au. I would believe the user now would like to have john@company2.com.au as the primary SMTP address. And this applies to all users. Given these assumptions: (1) Rerun the Configure Email and Internet Connection Wizard (CEICW) and change the e-mail domain name company2.com.au (2) Add company1.com.au as a secondary SMTP address, as you would do in Exchange 2003, preferable with adding a new recipient policy. This cannot be done with the CEICW (3) Add an MX record for company2.com.au Now each mailbox will receive mail sent to company1.com.au and company2.com.au, while the new reply address is changed from company1.com.au to company2.com.au. Each user can access this mail the same way as before. I don't think the POP3 Connector can handle multiple e-mail domains. Thank you for your reply. Some users are moving to a new company with a new domain name. They would like their email to be forwarded to the new domain name from the existing domain name email address. Guido Guido Zelenka

This is not SBS-specific. Do as described in the article below. Forwarding Mail to an External Recipient http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF015.htmlMCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M
