Mail ID Domain in cc changes
Hi All,
I am facing a very weird problem with one of the user in my Exch 2k3 setup.
When I send mail to external ID's (lets say someone@xyz.com) and keep a specific Internal ID (Let's say "user@mydomain.com") in cc then in the mail received the ID I cc'ed changes it's domain automatically. And the changed domain becomes the same
on which I sent mail to external ID.
In other words:
- at Sending end
Sender: a@xyz
cc: b@xyz.com
Send to : c@abc.com
On receiving end its will appear as:
Sender: a@xyz
cc: b@abc.com
Send to : c@abc.com
And when c@abc.com replies to all it gets failed as mail ID of "b" belongs to xyz. And b@abc.com will obviously fail.
I have done tracking at exchange and can confirm that while sending the mail address doesn't gets changed and my mail gets delivered locally to store.
Also, we are using messagelabs as smart hosts and I also tried doing trace of that mail and found that being an internal mail it didn't reach Messagelabs.
Earlier I thought it to be a problem at receiving end (exchange) but since then it has happened for 3 different domains (3 external mails) and is surely something at my end.
Can somebody please help me troubleshoot this problem.
Best Regards,
Manish Malik

The only way that Exchange could be "correcting" the email address is if you had a mail enabled contact for that user in the domain, with your internal domain configured as the default email address. That would cause this.

Oh..I figured it out.
It was because of some problem or virus in my machine and only with Outlook 2010. Earlier I was on 2003 and there was no problem. Even now with OWA there are no issues. I am going to re-install my outlook and see if that solves the problem. Thanks!
