Mail hangs in outbox
I've seen some questions near to the issue I am about to enter but I'm not seeing a real solution.
Since upgrading to Exchange 2010 and Office 2010 (Outlook being used) mail is periodically sticking the the outbox of shared (team) mailboxes. The person who sent the email cannot move it on, someone else in the box can open and send it on. Sometimes
it will clear itself in a hour(s). Personal boxes (non shared) do no have the issue. No one has cached exchange mode on. Deleting the email and resend is a work around. So is recreating the users profile. I find these intolerable solutions,
I have other IT issues to attend to than deal with random Outlook problems. Has anyone found a fix/solution.
Thanks

Have you tried not caching the shared mailbox?
By default, shared mail folders are downloaded in Cached mode in Outlook 2010

Hi,
I have seen the same problem and the solution for me has been to create multiple Exchange accounts in the Outlook profile, instead of adding the Shared Mailbox as an additional one.

James, non of the users have cached exchange mode on for any mail boxes. Thanks for your reply though
Martina,
Thank you for your reply
If I understand you correctly, this is what we are doing. The team accounts are listed in the outlook profile, as an example, Joe Cool, Team 1 and Team 2 are the 3 accounts listed under one profile. I moved to this to assure the 'sent' mail stayed
in the correct box instead of going to the profile's default box.
If I undo this and just add the boxes under the single user's account, not caring where the 'sent' mail goes, the stuck in outbox issue does not seem to happen.

Yup you mentioned cached was was not being used, however if shared mailboxes are being downloaded which is the default behavior, the ost file is still used to download the shared mailbox even though you have cached mode unchecked. That's strange that you
have the issue when using the multiple exchange accounts as opposed to shared mailboxes. Are you on the latest office patches sp1 with april hotfix?

Sorry about the delay . . . The hotfix did not seem to make a difference. I applied it to a user and sent a test email and it immediatly stuck in the outbox.
Any other ideas?

Try running in outlook in safe mode for a while and see if you can reproduce it.

Hi, did you find a resolution to your problem?
We kind of having a similar problem with shared mailboxes. Our problem is that the inbox view stops refreshing new items.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrgeneral/thread/b89ea7d1-fea8-41a2-83f8-93815333abf1#b89ea7d1-fea8-41a2-83f8-93815333abf1
We currently have a open microsoft support case, and after months they finally confirmed the issue was reported as a bug. But no information about when we could expect a fix to the problem.
Yesterday we tried installing Rollup 4 for Exchange 2010 SP2, but the issue still exists.

I think it is fixed. We started moving to 2008 for DC. As the old 2003 DC fingers were being pryed off the system the old email server was discovered to have its fingers in the process and interaction with the Exchange 2010 system. Once
all the remenants were pulled the problem stopped. While the old 2003 exhange services were not running connectors where still in place. What a mess.
Now the system looks closer to a normal textbook domain and the email issue seems to have completely gone away.
Thanks for you input and suggestions.
