Mail stuck in draft folder
I have Windows Server 2008 R2 running Exchange 2013  The AD and GC server for the domain is Windows Server 2003 R2.  Currently the domain is only configured as a .local  After installing Exchange 2013, setting up send connectors and configuring recipients I am not able to delivery mail internally from one recipient to another.  When I create an email using OWA from one internal recipient to another internal recipient the mail show in the drafts folder after sending.  What could be the cause of this, and how do I resolve the problem?

EAC -> Server -> Properties -> DNS Lookups -> Internal settings -> Add the IP Address of your DNS server and restart the Transport service

Hello,

Please use test-servicehealth to check if all the Windows services that Exchange requires on a server have started. Especially Exchange Transport service, Mailbox transport service.

If these required services are started, I recommend you use message tracking to trace these messages to check if there is any error.

Hello,

I have had the same issue and was able to resolved it.

Please make sure that all the required services for exchange are running, here is the cmdlet to check

test-servicehealth

RequiredServicesRunning : True
ServicesRunning         : {IISAdmin, MSExchangeADTopology, MSExchangeDelivery, MSExchangeIS,
                          MSExchangeMailboxAssistants, MSExchangeRepl, MSExchangeRPC, MSExchangeServiceHo
                          MSExchangeSubmission, MSExchangeThrottling, MSExchangeTransportLogSearch, W3Svc
ServicesNotRunning      : {}

Role                    : Client Access Server Role
RequiredServicesRunning : True
ServicesRunning         : {IISAdmin, MSExchangeADTopology, MSExchangeMailboxReplication, MSExchangeRPC,
                          MSExchangeServiceHost, W3Svc, WinRM}
ServicesNotRunning      : {}

Role                                  : Unified Messaging Server Role
RequiredServicesRunning : False
ServicesRunning               : {IISAdmin, MSExchangeADTopology, MSExchangeServiceHost, W3Svc, WinRM}
ServicesNotRunning          : {MSExchangeUM}

Role                                  : Hub Transport Server Role
RequiredServicesRunning : True
ServicesRunning               : {IISAdmin, MSExchangeADTopology, MSExchangeEdgeSync, MSExchangeServiceHost,
                          MSExchangeTransport, MSExchangeTransportLogSearch, W3Svc, WinRM}
ServicesNotRunning      : {}

In my case, the MSExchangeMailboxAssistants was not started. For some reasons, the service didn't start and by default it is set to start automatically.

Hope this helps.
